'Battlestar Galactica': Say it ain't frakkin so!
Battle Star Galactica Sad but true: "Battlestar Galactica" will end its run next year after its fourth and final season.

After weeks of speculation, the end is in fact near. According to a high level source at Sci Fi Channel parent company NBC Universal, the show will dock after its next 22-episode season, slated to kick off in early 2008.

Sources say the decision came down from executive producers Ronald D. Moore and David Eick, who are said to feel creatively like this upcoming arc will be its last.

Callis: New Galactica 'Remorseless
Battle Star Galactica James Callis, who plays the nefarious Baltar in SCI FI Channel's original series Battlestar Galactica, told SCI FI Wire that the upcoming third season will build on the events of last season's shocking finale. "In the upcoming episodes, the simplest way to explain what happens is that the wheat is separated from the chaff," Callis said in an interview at this month's Saturn Awards in Universal City, Calif. "I'm not actually sure at this moment which I belong to, which bothers me, whether I'm the wheat or the chaff. All I know is that we are necessarily separated."

Rough Times Due For Starbuck
Battle Star Galactica VANCOUVER, Canada—Katee Sackhoff, who plays fighter jock Kara "Starbuck" Thrace on SCI FI Channel's original series Battlestar Galactica, told SCI FI Wire that her character is in for a rough time—and a new haircut—in the show's upcoming third season. Speaking in an interview on the set here of her new film, White Noise 2: The Light, Sackhoff said: "I just lost a huge battle with the producers as to my hair and what length it should and should not be." (Sackhoff's blond hair was streaked with bright red for her role in the supernatural horror sequel film White Noise 2.) "So it's going to be gone. Shorter than it was in the miniseries."

Galactica Will Encounter Pegasus
Battle Star Galactica David Eick, co-creator and executive producer of SCI FI Channel's original series Battlestar Galactica, offered SCI FI Wire a few more details about the introduction of the Battlestar Pegasus, a returning element from the original series, which co-creator Ronald D. Moore revealed in a panel at Comic-Con International in San Diego. "This really came out of a conversation Ron and I had early on about the episodes we had seen of the original show and what felt like they might be well served by a fresh interpretation," Eick said in an interview. He added: "The storyline that we thought was interesting was the Battlestar Pegasus. And so, naturally, we put a pretty unexpected and, I think, pretty subversive spin on it. But it's definitely going to be a fixture for a while." The Pegasus appears beginning in the 10th episode of the second season.

Only 13 episodes for S1 of Battlestar Galactica?
Battle Star Galactica DoG writes "This is a great series and is far better, than the original (although I've been a fan of the old series as well). But there is only 13 episodes, for the 1st season? I feel teased! LOL At least, the people that waited for it to be aired on the Sci-Fi Channel, have a ways to go, before they're left wanting for more. But I couldn't resist, DLing & watching the exclusive, early release, Sky One broadcasts. Oh well, I guess this gives me time, to start DLing & watching the old series.

What did anyone else think of the new BSG? I think that it is well written and character driven. The direction (i.e. realistic camera angle view point CGI) and special efx are good too. I like the ship designs and the music in the UK version (for some reason, the US version has different, although not as good, intro music). The only thing that I sometimes don't like, is when they jerk the camera too much, during action scenes. Other times, it's well done to help to make a realistic, kinetic view of the battles.

I haven't checked yet, but did anyone hear anything about how well it did in the UK, and is doing in the US & the rest of the world? And any news of their contract being renewed for a 2nd season?"
